Who doesn’t want to have a great smile? The key is maintaining good oral health. Otherwise, you may experience other dental and medical issues such as gum and heart disease, strokes and more. Consistent teeth cleanings may aid in the prevention of some of these problems.
As National Dental Hygiene Month is an annual designation observed in October, here are some tips to maintain good oral health:
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
- If possible, floss after every meal to avoid plaque buildup.
- Chewing sugar free gum can help fight tooth decay.
- Limit sugary foods as they have a high level of phosphorus which may deplete your body’s level of calcium.
- Limit tobacco use as nicotine and tar stain teeth as well as eat away at gums.
- Visit your dentist at least twice a year, as this can help detect and prevent future dental issues.
